7 Rules of Getting Dress Ready

1.     Burn the boats! (not literally) Thousands of years ago when the Greek warriors would go to war, they'd arrive on land, turn around and burn their boats. They then had no other choice than to follow the plan. Commit to making nutritional changes for the better and work extra hard in your workouts. If you work hard on this stuff, change is inevitable. When you’re feeling down, tired and wanting to give up, visualize yourself on the altar with your future husband. That moment will make it all worth it.

2.     Take measurements once a month! Weight fluctuations week to week are generally water gained or lost and thus inaccurate to measure whether or not you are making progress. 30 days is the shortest amount of time you can accurately measure change, anything less will just negatively affect your mindset.
(See the measurement section for details).

3.     Take and print out the “before” picture and post it somewhere you'll see every day. If you don't want others to see it, put it in your bedroom or car - somewhere you can see it. Take a separate picture of your dress and put it next to your "before" picture.

4.     Accept that change takes time. As we all know, it’s easy to gain weight and much harder to lose! Understand that any period of time where you are working out regularly less for a period of time, less than six months, is considered short term when it comes to fitness.

5.     Only move forward: As cliché as it may sound, the past is the past and the only thing that matters is NOW (in the moment). If you slip up, forget about it! Focus on making the moment and near future better.

6.     Understand that WEIGHTLOSS DOES NOT ALWAYS EQUAL SEXY. If your goals were to lose X number of lbs, unless you are 50-100 lbs overweight, come up with a more specific goal centered on an exact waist size. FACT: Muscle weighs more than fat. FACT: 1 pound of Lean muscle burns 50 calories at rest. FACT: More muscle you have, less body fat you have. FACT: You cannot be toned, without lean muscle under the skin. FACT: 1-5lbs loss on a week to week base is most likely water. The more you can understand this stuff, the better you are. People get so caught up with weight that they think if the weight stays the same, they are not accomplishing anything - that's not the case!

7.     Write down specific goals for your fitness and nutrition. As you write it down, write out statements as if it already happened and visualize the feelings you’d have.  “Lose 20 lbs” will not cut it! Instead, you might say, “For the first time, I feel defined. When I reach to open the door, my arms are firm. I decided to wear my hair up for my wedding as I am no longer self-conscious about my shoulders. I’m down six sizes and looking great. I just had my dress resized as it was loose! I am so proud of myself! I feel more energetic and my future husband cannot
kkeep his hands off me!”
